Green Tips for March Part 1: Keep the hippy eco-love flowing!

“Much to my dismay, I have recently read that we will be facing a drought this summer and water restrictions will be the norm. I live where once stood a great rain forest. Here on the west coast  of Canada, we are known for rain yet with our culture of abundance we still manage to use enough water that restrictions are necessary. Here are some tips on reducing the amount of this precious resource that we use each day. 

The Throne

Believe it or not, one of the biggest water wasters is a leaky toilet. If you are in for a new toilet, take a look at a low-flush toilet, which can save up to 16 litres of water every time you flush. If you are not looking for a new toilet then consider putting a weight in the tank to reduce the amount of water used with each flush.  Ask at your local hardware store for an appropriate weight that won’t harm the plumbing.”
