Here at Hippy Grandma we love a small-business success story. Especially if it involves an excellent product that always keeps a focus on health, and sustainability and gives back to the local community.
Pure Radiant Energy (PRE) is just such a business. Caroline and Maury Kolof started the company after a $300 trip to the cosmetics counter; Caroline was used to paying these types of prices for products that contained ingredients she couldn’t necessarily name, but Maury was shocked and horrified. There had to be a better way!
For three years the Kolof’s researched and formulated their ideas. When PRE products for skin and hair were launched in 1997 they fulfilled Caroline and Maury’s requirements for being environmentally friendly and using natural ingredients and small-batch manufacturing for freshness. Animal-based ingredients and animal testing are forbidden. And the Kolof’s are always very serious about quality.
The folks at PRE also believe in supporting their community. They’ve been actively involved in numerous charities and organizations such as: Canadian Breast Cancer, Heart & Stroke, AIDS Vancouver, Downtown Eastside Women, numerous local schools and community organizations.
